Booking & vehicle collection
To book a motorcycle with ADAC

After making your booking, you will shortly receive our binding online booking confirmation. You will have to pay the rental rate, for accessories (if any) and the deposit when collecting your vehicle at the rental station.
You may change your booking free of charge subject to availability at the rental station indicated in your booking confirmation.
You can collect your motorcycle at the selected ADAC rental station Monday through Friday during the standard business hours. Collection on Saturdays may incur an extra charge.
You can return your motorcycle to the selected ADAC rental station Monday through Friday during the standard business hours. Please refer to your booking confirmation for the exact date/time. Vehicle collection/return is not possible outside business hours nor on Sundays or public holidays.
To prevent delays, we recommend you call your rental station in advance to coordinate the date/time.
No. We do not (yet) provide one-way rentals.
Technology & accessories
Ask the rental station staff for accessories such as clothing, saddlebags or storage options as well as safety items. We usually offer a wide range of useful accessories, which – subject to availability – you can rent or buy. Our rental station staff will be happy to assist you.
Cost, financial issues, claims
When collecting your vehicle, you will have to pay a €1,000.00 deposit. The excess is €2,000.00 per claim.
You can cancel free of charge until 8 days before your rental starts. We will charge 70% of the rental rate if you cancel 7 to 2 days before your rental starts. Should you cancel on the day of the rental, we will charge 80%. You can take out cancellation protection (e.g. to cover cancellation due to bad weather) at €20.00 in price category 1-6 or at €35.00 in price category 7-13. This cancellation protection is only available with online bookings and is non-refundable.
You can use a Visa or MasterCard credit card or a Maestro/debit card to pay the rental rate and deposit at almost any rental station. We do not accept credit cards issued by other companies/schemes. Please contact your rental station in advance to make sure they accept credit cards. The credit card must be issued to the rider. Otherwise, vehicle collection is not possible because the credit card is required for the payment of the deposit. Company and foreign credit cards will be charged immediately.
The renter may commission minor repairs and/or order spare parts amounting to no more than €150.00 at a specialist motorcycle repairer without prior consultation with the rental agent. For a refund, we need the specialist repairer’s original invoice and, where parts were replaced, the replaced parts.
Following an accident, fire, theft, vehicle-deer collision or any other incident, the renter is required to call the police without delay. This also applies to self-inflicted accidents in which no third party is involved. In addition, the renter must fully inform the rental agent about the accident or incident in writing, even if damage is minor. The accident/incident report must include, without limitation, the names and addresses of the persons involved and the witnesses (if any) as well as the license plate numbers of the vehicles involved. The renter must not acknowledge any claims for damages made by other parties involved in the accident/incident. The renter must inform the rental agent about any other damage or incidents that occurred in relation with the vehicle without delay, i.e. no later than upon vehicle return.
If you wish to collect/return your vehicle on a Saturday, the rental agent may charge an extra €30.00 (€20.00 for ADAC members).
The vehicle must be returned with a full tank. Please refer to the rental agreement for the refuel charge per liter.
You are not required to make a down payment if your rental period starts in less than 7 days and if your rental period is shorter than 3 days. For any other type of rental, a down payment of 20% of the expected rental rate is required.
Restrictions, terms & conditions, legislation
No. Anyone complying with the minimum age requirement, having held an adequate license that is valid in Germany for at least one year and presenting a valid ID card can rent a vehicle with ADAC motorcycle rental (no exclusive members-only rental).
ADAC members enjoy the following benefits:
- Vehicle collection/return on Saturdays at a reduced rate.
- 3% discount on the daily rental rate.
You may travel to any European country with the exception of the following countries/regions:
Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and Iceland.
Any travel to war and crisis areas is forbidden.
You may take the motorcycle on an adequate and registered ferry within Europe. The motorcycle has adequate insurance as booked.
For reasons of insurance, our rental vehicles must not be used in certain countries, e.g. Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia,Turkey and Iceland. In addition, we are unable to ensure that in these countries, accident/breakdown assistance is provided to the standards you would expect in Germany. Any intentional travel to one of these countries will be deemed as a breach of the rental agreement. This means that you will not be covered by insurance and there will be no limitation of liability towards the rental agent. Moreover, no assistance benefits will be arranged or provided in the case of a breakdown.

Our requirements are based on the legal minimum age restrictions for the different categories and a staggered minimum period since obtaining the license.
This means that to rent a moped/light motorcycle for which an AM/A1 license is required, you must be at least 16 years old and have held an adequate license for at least one month. Underage renters are required to present the written consent of their parents or legal guardians.
To rent a vehicle for which an A2 license is required, you must be at least 18 years old and have held an adequate license for at least three months. The minimum requirements for A license vehicles are 20 years of age and 6 months since getting the license.
Different requirements may apply to very powerful, converted and/or limited edition motorcycles. To rent one of these vehicles, you must be at least 23 to 25 years old and have held an adequate license for at least 12 – in some cases 24 – months.

For the number of free kilometers and the excess mileage charge, please refer to our price list as amended from time to time and/or the respective special offer.
Ferry crossings within Europe on approved ferries suited for this are allowed, and the motorcycle is insured for this under the terms of the booking.

To extend your rental period during the rental, contact your rental agent. There is no right to such extension.
When collecting the vehicle, the renter is required to present a valid ID card (original) and an adequate driving license. Non-German nationals may present different documents. Renters presenting their passport always must submit a certificate of residency. Before renting out a motorcycle, we always need a rider-issued credit card (Visa/MasterCard).
The renter is the only person authorized to use the vehicle. We will charge a €20.00 fee for the registration of a second authorized rider. Riders will have joint and several liability.
We may charge a €30.00 fee if the vehicle is returned in an unusually dirty condition.
You must not use the rented motorcycle on terrain other than public, tarmac roads. Using the motorcycle on rough terrain, off the road, trails or race tracks is not permitted. Both wheels must touch the ground at all times and rotate at the same speed. Burnouts, wheelies and stoppies are strictly forbidden.
